Divine Lee: Divine dreams

- Jerni May H. Camposano -

MANILA, Philippines - It has been said a lot of times that when you dream, you have to let your mind take that leap into the realm of the impossible. You should know that dreaming entails expanding your horizons and lifting your visions to the highest degree. Even Nobel Prize winner Anatole France once said that to accomplish great things, we must not only act, but also dream.

Perhaps, Divine Lee knew of this all. Because when she dreamed, she made sure that she dreamed big. “I was a very imaginative kid,” begins Divine, a successful entrepreneur and social and fashion figure. “My dream would change on a daily basis. I wanted to be a princess, a teacher, a doctor, a scientist and just about everything!”

As vice president for sales and marketing of real estate giant Globe Asiatique, Divine is in charge of the architectural division, international sales and marketing and overall supervision of the company’s major projects. “The position is just a title. Technically, I’m all around,” she declares. “My greatest achievement in my career is having built a successful team for Globe Asiatique. This team has been very instrumental in making the company what it is today. Everything is a team effort.”

Divine personally feels that the company’s best accomplishment doesn’t lie in the towering structures or grand constructions that it has built over the years. Rather, she and the rest of the team members feel overwhelmed with tales of how they have changed the lives of their clients by providing their families their dream houses. “As my dad always says, it is easy to build houses. He reminds us that our job is not to build mere structures but to enhance and improve lives,” shares Divine, who adds that her dad Delfin is her idol and best friend.

“My dad is very open-minded. He always pushed me to do what I love,” she says. Since she’s always had the passion for fashion, Divine managed to establish her own retail store even with a full time job in the family-owned real estate company. Luca, which has branches in Eastwood and Rockwell, has been Divine’s outlet for her creative and fashion genius.

Divine likewise believes that nowadays, a lot of barriers have been knocked down to allow women equal opportunities to excel in various fields — like the cutthroat industry of construction where this gorgeous lady gets to work mostly with men. “We should make good use of these opportunities. I don’t see any reason not to excel,” she states matter-of-factly.

This divine beauty asserts that she is a big dreamer and worker. “I have a number of dreams both for Globe Asiatique and for my clothing brand, for the people I work with and the people I work for.” Divine then pauses to say, “But personally, like every client who has bought a house from our company, I dream of having a home with a happy family.”

When she sets her eyes on something, she makes sure to take action so she can move closer to that dream. That, in a nutshell, is how Divine dreams.
