Love is gold
“Our soulmate is the one who makes life come to life.” — Richard Bach
Theirs is an enduring love that has given birth to a wonderful life filled with beautiful memories worth cherishing. Recently, lovely couple Bert and Nonie Basilio celebrated their golden wedding anniversary by renewing their vows at the elegantly decorated Santuario de San Jose in Greenhills. Officiated by seven priests, the solemn ceremony was attended by a dozen pair of sponsors that elicited gasps of admiration from well-heeled guests. Family and friends all witnessed a picture-perfect moment as the radiant golden bride, Nonie, resplendent in an intricately beaded shimmering gold gown by Pitoy Moreno, gracefully marched down the aisle in the arms of dashing husband Bert, while their love song, An Affair to Remember, melodiously played in the background. The memorable scene elicited a hearty applause from the elite audience including former Sen. Loi Ejercito and UNESCO National Commission of the Philippines secretary general Preciosa Soliven.
A lavish dinner-dance reception immediately followed at the ballroom of the Manila Peninsula Hotel, which was filled to the brim by the couple’s numerous friends in Manila’s social circle including Makati’s first lady, Dr. Elenita Binay, Gov. Justo Ortiz, Don Ado Escudero and justices Manuel Lazaro, Bernie Pardo and Norberto Geraldez. Over the scrumptious dinner feast, the party went in full swing with memorable love songs and engaging performances by child singing sensation Chris Gonzales, Clara Ramona with her graceful flamenco dancers and the country’s leading soprano Rachelle Gerodias. Ballroom dancing followed, but not before the lovely pair thanked the guests for their presence and donations to chosen beneficiaries. The evening was truly worthy of the very significant occasion.
