Cheers to a better life
Cancer survivor and chemist Pinky Tobiano established QualiBet in 2006. With the company name standing for “Quality is Better,” Tobiano has led the crusade by empowering the Filipino consumer to be “aware of the quality of water we use, the generic medicines that are being sold, educating the consumers about the nutritional facts of the food out in the market, monitoring the environment, and campaigning against trans-fat.”
QualiBet is a world-class food, water, pharmaceutical, cosmetics, toys, dairy products, environmental and veterinary testing facility and is a member of the American Chemical Society and American Association of Analytical Chemists, and American Association of Cereal Chemists.
It offers third-party testing for food served in fast food chains and fine-dining restaurants, and cosmetics sold over the counter. The laboratory conducts tests such as bacterial analysis, proximate analysis, nutrition facts, and minerals and heavy metals.
It boasts of the most modern testing facility in the Philippines and is managed by US-trained chemists, pharmacists, microbiologists, and pathologists which have regular annual technical trainings to serve the Filipino consumer better.
In her speech, Tobiano lauded QualiBet crusaders Doctors Gregorio and Gina Pastorfide, Carla Sibal, Khristine Gabriel, Mayor Marides Fernando, Priscilla and Rudy Arce, Maritel Nievera-Shani, Obet Pagdanganan, Maricel Laxa and Anthony Pangilinan and Edu Manzano. “They affirm that QualiBet is more than just a testing company but an advocate for a safer and better life. Product safety is not a privilege of the rich but the right of every Filipino.”
The crusaders were serenaded by the powerful and operatic voices of The Angelos while new cancer crusader and supporter Sarah Geronimo took the audience’s breath away. This cancer advocacy crusade was hosted by Johnny Litton.
A special award was handed to actress Lorna Tolentino for being the ambassador of the Cancer Support Group of the Philippines.
