“The best use of life is to spend it for something that outlasts life.” — William James
In celebration of the ultimate gentleman’s 80th birthday held recently at the Forbes Park Pavilion, Paing Hechanova, dapper as usual and still looking like a hardcourt heartthrob playing for the UST Goldies and the Philippine Olympic team, cut a smart figure beside his lovely wife Mely, who was clad in a ravishing yellow cocktail dress. Regarded as one of Manila’s best hostesses, Mely meticulously planned the event together with daughters Renna Angeles and Raissa Posadas.
A sumptuous dinner was served after celebrating Mass while your columnist emceed the short program commencing with a simple tribute for Paing. Paing was then offered a toast by Mely and children Renna, only son Raffy and his wife Gina Gabaldon, Raissa and her husband Monet Posadas, and youngest daughter Riana and her husband Ramon Trajano. This was followed by a rousing disco number from the Makati Rotarians that simply wowed the crowd. The evening ended in the wee hours with many guest waltzing to endless lively music.
Many more to come, Paing!
