Life begins at 70

 An ultra glamorous and opus-inspired night recently unfolded when Consul Luis Ablaza Jr. celebrated his 70th birthday at the Rizal Ballroom of the Makati Shangri-La. The genius of son Jun-jun Ablaza, who is an artist decorateur/jewelry designer, was obvious as the ballroom was canopied with crimson champagne supernova and platinum glitter globes. Louie, debonair in a classic black suit and charming with his boyish smile, welcomed the guests, assisted by his gracious wife Mellie in a Ben Farrales gown of black and platinum silk. The evening’s highlight was the brilliant classical performance of Louie’s grandchildren.

Among those spotted were Ambassador Francisco Ortigas III, Ambassador Luis Arias, Letty Syquia, Justa Tantoco, Consul Helen Ong, Gov. Baby Ortiz, Paing and Mely Hechanova and Elenita Binay. Many, many more to come, Louie!
