I am not a big fan of cheesecakes. But the one I tried at my nephew Diego’s 11th birthday was superb! So I asked my sister-in-law Lotlot who baked it. She said she and her friends were the ones who baked it and they have other cakes for the holidays.
What I had was Chocolate Chip Overload Cheesecake. It just had the right blend of cheese and chocolate.
Friends Sam Caoile, My My Davao and Lotlot de Leon are responsible for the Chocolate Chip Overload Cheesecake and many others.
They have been friends for five years. Sam has been a professional chef for more than five years, working on board a luxury cruise liner in the UK. He has always loved baking long before he became a chef.
My My, actress and sister of my husband, graduated AB Communication Arts from DLSU in 1996. As a child, she baked simple recipes like banana cake.
Lotlot, actress and my sister-in-law, has always been good at cooking and baking. Most of what I learned are from her. She taught me how to make four-cheese lasagna, menudo sulipeña and so many others. Lotlot can whip up almost anything in the kitchen. She furthered her love for cooking and baking by taking a complete culinary course in 2002 at the Center for Asian Culinary Studies under chef Gene Gonzales. Almost six years ago, she also put up a small coffee shop in Fairview called Charlotte’s Kitchen.
Lotlot and Sam shared their passion for cooking and baking with My My giving the critique. They have been sharing their recipes and have been experimenting in the kitchen for about four years. They thought of reviving Lotlot’s café but never got to it until they had an offer to supply cakes to one of their friends’ friend. And so they grabbed the opportunity and conceived Soft Peak.
Soft Peak is made of egg white whipped to a foaming or fluffy state, with the peak folding over on itself when the beater is lifted. They chose this culinary term as their business name since it is unique and strongly identified in baking which is their focus. Lotlot and Sam do the baking and My My is in charge of sales and marketing.
What makes their products different from others is that they have fortified the taste of good ol’ home-made goodies by using quality ingredients, no substitute. They also improve their presentation.
They plan to join bazaars eventually. But for now, they will market their products to family and friends for Christmas.
Aside from the delicious goodies in the photos, they also have these products which are part of their premium cake selection: Chocolate Chip Overload Cheesecake, Hazel-Nut Choco Mousse Cake, Black Forest Cheesecake and Heaven and Earth Mousse which is a combination of white and dark chocolate mousse.
So after having a bite of that superb cheesecake, I instantly became a fan of cheesecake — but only of Soft Peak’s Chocolate Chip Overload Cheesecake. And I am sure to try all the other ones.
Want to have a bite? It is heavenly!
