STAR DREAM GIRL - Helga Marie Krapf

Half-German, half-Filipino Helga Marie Krapf was inspired to become a lawyer after watching one of her favorite movies, Legally Blonde. This dream of providing legal services, however, had to take the backseat when this pretty teenager decided to try her luck in the entertainment industry.

Also, the 5’4” looker decided to instead take up Mass Communications at the Lyceum of the Philippines University. Currently a third year Broadcasting Major student, Helga claims she’s just like any other student in school. Although she finds it difficult to juggle work and school, she stresses she has no plans of quitting her studies. “I try to keep a low profile when I’m in school because some of my classmates find it hard to approach me. But generally, they are friendly,” explains Helga, who assumes that her mestiza features intimidate her classmates.

The 19-year-old daughter of retired seaman Hans Krapf and Agnes (nee Barcena) is, in fact, very down-to-earth. She takes pride in the fact that she shells out her own money for her college tuition and allowance. “My dad said that I was really thrifty. Ever since I was a kid, I always had big savings,” continues Helga, who is seen in various TV shows in ABS-CBN.

Helga knows that life in the limelight is pretty complicated but she is confident to face the challenges. After all, the values her parents taught her are deeply rooted in her –– being responsible in everything she does and taking care of her health are things she learned from her dad while her mom always reminds her to be God-fearing.

When she’s not busy with tapings and out-of-town shows, Helga prefers to stay at home and busies herself by reading a good book. “I love reading books by Meg Cabot, the author of Princess Diaries,” she adds. “I’m also into fashion and lifestyle magazines.”

The charming lass may not have been able to set her foot in the courtroom, but Helga is set to prove she can still be a good lawyer –– even if it’s only in character –– or whatever movie or TV role she’s assigned to in the near future. –– Jerni May H. Camposano
