Fashion for scholars

"Happiness is a perfume you cant pour on others without getting a few drops on yourself." Ralph Waldo Emerson
The Friends for Cultural Concerns of the Philippines (FCCP) once again worked tirelessly to uphold its mission of promoting arts and culture in the country. Founded 27 years ago, the FCCP is headed by the chairman of the board Chito Madrigal Collantes and president Lulu Castañeda. Its recent success is the holding of an SRO fashion show for their scholars at the Manila Polo Club, raising a substantial amount to subsidize the organizations projects. Spearheading the glamorous affair were director-in-charge of the scholarship committee Cristina Galang-Caedo together with chairpersons Karen Macasaet and Boysie Villavicencio, as well as Beth Cristobal who acted as the evenings emcee. It was a thoroughly enjoyable evening working for a noble cause!
This week, your columnist recommends Jacobs Creek Shiraz Reserve, a deep garnet-colored wine with purple hues. It bears concentrated juicy cherry and blackberry fruit, with fragrant spice and black pepper notes complemented by subtle toasty cedar oak. A full-bodied wine style, finely balanced with supportive cedar and vanilla oak flavors, its fruit and oak tannins are harmonized to provide a velvety soft and persistent tannin finish. Best with beef, cheese, duck and lamb.
