Super Food

When Spanish explorers reached the cradle of Aztec civilization in the early 16th century, they found much that astonished them. Apart from the wonders of such an advanced society, they were puzzled by the natives diet. The Aztecs lived on maize, beans, squash and a mysterious blue-green scum that floated on Lake Texcoco of the Teotihuacan Valley where Mexico City stands today.
For the Aztecs, the mysterious blue-green scum called "tecuitatl" or "excrement of stones" was prepared as a dry cake and eaten with maize and other native cereals.
