May 8, 2005 | 12:00am
To become a model requires striking looks, tiptop shape and oozing attitude. And, yes, never ever underestimate the models patience and perseverance. This makes 21-year-old Kian Vargas thrive in the field where beautiful people are literally everywhere.
The 56"-tall stunner is a Communication Arts student at the Philippine Womens University in Taft, Manila. This part-time model has become part of some TV commercials and plans to do print ad and ramp.
Kian considers modeling a tough yet fun job because doing go-see or VTR tests her personality and composure.
Away from klieg lights, Kian lives a simple life. She describes herself as a "quiet and serious" person. When there are no projects or school deadlines, she prefers to stay at home and finds solitude in the four corners of her room. She considers this a perfect form of self-relaxation and this is her way of getting away from the fast-paced city life.
Besides modeling, studying makes Kian busy 24/7. After college, Kian wishes to have her options open. She could go full-time as a model or have a career in media.
Asked what important lessons she has learned from working early on in life, Kian replies, "I have learned to be independent, mature and responsible. I have become critical with my decision that I should not only think of its immediate benefits but also its repercussions."
"Being successful means two things focus and dedication," Kian concludes. Jerry Donato
