Star Dream Girl: Maureen Brennan

-
Twenty-two-year-old Eurasian beauty Maureen Brennan is a Hotel Restaurant Institutional Management student at the College of St. Benilde on Taft Avenue, Manila.

Half-Irish, half-Filipino Maureen has done several fashion billboards and print ads. Maureen’s satisfaction as a model comes not just from the recognition she gets, but also from her ability to project the "right look or image, to the photographer’s or image consultant’s delight. To thrive in this profession, patience is a must."

Maureen, who describes herself as "simple and friendly," believes that "it is important to have a fashion sense or style. It is a person’s mark. As for myself, my fashion is a bit edgy and classic. Most of the time, I don’t plan my look or the clothes I will wear for the day. My mood and imagination help me create a look fit for me. One’s personality should be of utmost consideration, and one should have the basic knowledge of mixing and matching of clothes, accessories and shoes without looking tacky or overdoing a desired look. At the end of the day, it is important to be comfortable in what one is wearing."

Part-time model Maureen, the daughter of William Brennan and the former Estrella Consuelo Valero, has so many things to look forward to after college.

"I plan to live for a while in Spain and study the language," says Maureen. "My mom says the best way to get a thorough understanding of Spanish is to practise it in its country where most people do not speak English. It’s a matter of survival, right? I have no choice but to speak the language."

"I also plan to go to the States and study Arts or Child Psychology there. I want to travel around the world, learn from different cultures and ways of life before I pursue my ambition of putting up a restaurant in the Philippines."

To keep fit and healthy, Maureen does wakeboarding, kickboxing and belly dancing in her spare time. She also avoids beef and pork.

"What is real beauty? It’s the inner self," ends Maureen. "A person should learn to bring it out and let it shine – her personality and character. Physical beauty is only second to inner beauty. Inner beauty makes people appreciate you more."Jerry Donato
