The owner of Goldilocks happens to be my friend; she is the godmother of my second born. We also go to the same Health Club. Just the other day at the gym, I mentioned to her that my kids love their mamon. Thats when I found out that a certain portion of the sales of each mamon and ensaymada goes to The Chosen Children Village Foundation.
Goldilocks has supported institutions like Bantay Bata 163, UNICEF, Philippine National Red Cross, Likas Kabataan, GMA Foundation, World Meeting of Families and Caritas. Now it is helping The Chosen Children Village Foundation.
Since October is Childrens Month, Goldilocks is donating a portion of its mamon and ensaymada sales from Sept. 28 to Nov. 14 to the foundation.
The Chosen Children Village follows a unique concept in the care of disabled children. It was founded in 1989 by a very dynamic lady named Lita Fullerton. The village was designed to provide a home environment where kids can be taken care of in a family setting. Miss Fullerton felt that the traditional, institutional setup was not as beneficial to the growth and development of special children and their equally special needs. The underlying philosophy behind the village is that each of the kids deserves to be nurtured by people who will love them with a "mothers instinct." This is what takes place at The Chosen Children Village, thus creating a community of love, compassion and growth among the children and the staff.
The village in Silang Cavite is a 2.2-hectare parcel of land on which stands cottages, a chapel, a school, a clinic and a rehabilitation center.
Funding though has not been easy and there is a continuing need to finance the village so that many more children can thrive in a home environment.
It is indeed wonderful that Goldilocks is helping these children. It is truly possible to combine commercial success and community service.
We can help these children to be nurtured, to improve their lives by simply enjoying Goldilocks mamon and ensaymada until Nov. 14. By doing so, you will not only enjoy eating, you will help the children as well.
As the Goldilocks logo states, "Goldilocks, How Thoughtful, How Pinoy." Yes, helping The Chosen Children Village is thoughtful and yes, very Pinoy.
