Tis the season to party, and stylist Jenni Epperson gives you tips on how to look like a million without giving your credit card a meltdown!
Get ready because this is the season to party! And what better way to lift your holiday spirits than looking like a million bucks (without cutting into your Christmas gifts fund)! Be it in a chic event, meeting for cocktails with friends or a dinner date at Makatis chi-chi restaurants, its time to glow!
This season is a time when party faves do not mean giveaways and loot bags anymore but must-have clothes to kick-start the cool nights. Were talking about pieces that feel luxurious and reflect the lights in Decembers long nights. Fabrics made from velvet, sateen and combination viscose are sure to make your most casual denims become instant party clothes.
For those like me who never really liked these materials (I used to associate them with theater curtains) or find them heavy-looking and sometimes gaudy, you might want to re-think them as I have.
After seeing Natalie Imbruglia wearing a green velvet blazer paired with a funky tee (so rock & roll) and Paul Smiths A/W 2002 green slouch bag with metal pailletes handle, Ive become a convert. This season, velvet and other velvety fabrics take center stage in party get-ups. The key look is casual luxedressing them down with denims, pairing it with casual tees or simply choosing modern silhouettes.
Party hearty!
