What a combination!

"After crosses and losses, men grow humbler and wiser." Benjamin Franklin
Tereret Tambunting-Liboro is one of the most generous philanthropists I have had the pleasure to know. Through her tireless efforts, the Tambuntings have donated generously for the construction of houses of numerous indigent families.
Tereret recently invited her friends to an elegant cocktail event to express her appreciation to an automobile company that has promised to invest and remain in the Philippines. Im referring to BMW, the ultimate driving machine.
Tererets family and intimate associates graced the exclusive party at the newly opened BMW Lounge at the Enterprise Center, Makati. They were treated to a private viewing of two additions to the BMW 7 Series, the 735 Li and 745 Li. The 7 Series, my dears, is believed to be the worlds most advanced set of luxury cars.
BMW Phils. debonair president, Mark Gilbert, charmed his way into the hearts of his guests as he gave a vivid description of what makes driving in the 7 Series an encounter one will never forget. "It is so advanced in its design, technology and concept that it is a truly revolutionary car that will change the way we all think about automobiles," he said.
As finely dressed men and women tested the wheel and the luxurious seats of the 745 Li, the rest of the guests tasted the champagne, quality wines, canapés, foie gras and other delicious finger foods masterfully prepared by the Mandarin Oriental chefs. Among the illustrious guests were Tererets better half, Andy; Friends of CCPs Thelma Gana, Chloe Periquet, Jose Periquet and Olga Martel; entrepreneur Ignacio Ortigas Sr.; and Benjie Toda.
Needless to say, the sweet and glamorous Tereret was able to generate interest in funding her special charity projectsa Catholic church for 1,000 persons in the depressed area of Bagong Silang, Caloocan City, and two pavilions in Elsie Gaches Village in Muntinlupa which can house 100 poor, special and handicapped children whose families have abandoned or have no means to support them.
What a magnificent combination! Tereret Liboro, Mark Gilbert and the worlds superb driving experienceBMW!
The close-knit Ablaza family recently gathered for the grand birthday celebration of patriarch, Louie Ablaza who came dressed in all white. His fair wife, Mellie, looked every inch in a merry mood, resplendent in a flowing peach caftan.
The Ablaza home was animated with the gay laughter of family and friends, from Louies balae, Ambassador Enrique Syquia, to Italian Ambassador Umberto Colesanti and Netherlands Ambassador Theo Arnold. Young and old alike clapped their hands gamely like little kids as Louie blew the candles on his luscious cherry-and-chocolate cake. Conversations flowed as smoothly as the endlessly flowing wine, while excellent food further sweetened the smiles of Louies well-wishers.
Our cheerful wishes to you, Louie! We look forward to seeing you blow those candles again in the years to come!
Happy birthday to our celebrators today, my colleague, columnist Chona Trinidad and lovely teener and STAR Dream Girl Fiona Young.
Advanced birthday greetings to comedienne Mitch Valdes, Oct. 21; golfer Cora Suntay and superb diva Vernie Varga, Oct. 23; entertainment editor Crispina Belen, columnist Danny Cuevas and Flavors Raffy Zulueta, Oct. 24; UNIFEM president Olga Severino-Martel, Oct. 25; Blue Mountain and Arts Harry Limtong, Oct. 26.
