A night with the ambassadors

"A merry heart does good like a medicine." Jo Petty
The Tower Club, the countrys premier, by-invitation-only business and social club, again became the venue for one the most important events in the social circuit, a fabulous buffet for the diplomatic party organized by Roberto "Bobby" Romulo.
The venerable Bobby invited envoys to the cocktails dubbed Ambassadors Night. On hand to welcome the eminent guests were the Tower Clubs founding chairman Washington Sycip; Tower Club vice chairman Jose Cuisia Jr.; CCA Phils. president Arthur Lopez; general manager Rupert Haarhoff; and membership director Cyndy Tan-Jarabata.
After his brief opening remarks, Bobby Romulo circulated with US Ambassador Francis Joseph Ricciardone; Embassy of the Swiss Confederations Peter Casaulta; and Malaysian Ambassador Mohammad Taufic Bin Mohammed Noor. Bobbys supportive brother, a fellow Tower Club member of the founding board of governors, lawyer Ricardo Romulo, conversed with Spanish Ambassador Tomas Rodriguez Pantoja; Italian Ambassador Umberto Colesanti; and German Ambassador Herbert Jess. Bobbys lovely wife, Olivia helped entertain guests and chatted animatedly with an equally elegant lady, Stella Marquez-Araneta, the wife of Ambassador Jorge Araneta. Completing the Ambassadors Circle were Cambodian Ambassador Ek Sereywath; Belgian Ambassador Roland van Remoortele; Chilean Ambassador Carmen Lynam; French Ambassador Renee Veyret; Portuguese Ambassador Joao Caetano da Silva; and Singaporean Ambassador Jacky Foo. Other formidable names graced the affairPrime Minister Cesar Virata; SSS president Corazon de la Paz; shipping magnate Doris Magsaysay-Ho; and George Yang, the industrious member of the Clubs founding board of governors.
Tower Club chefs Zaldy Ladroma and Cheong Kwan Loong, masters in the art of making hors doeuvres, prepared delectable appetizers, including poached shrimp with mango, smoked salmon with capers, Parma ham with melon, lapu-lapu roulade with caviar, and egg with caviar. And for those with a sweet-toothed, they prepared kiwi fruit tartlet, Valrhona chocolate petit fours, Florentine and chocolate dipped fruits.
Our salute to the Tower Club for another successful affair that the diplomatic circle will never forget!
