A night of music

"Dont wait for your ship to come in. Row out to meet it." Dad
The Friends for Cultural Concerns of the Philippines (FCCP) staged another successful Artists and Friends Musicale to the delight of music lovers at the elegant home of Italian Ambassador and Mrs. Umberto Colesanti.
The by-invitation-only musicale soiree featured three young and talented artists, all scholars of the University of Santo Tomas: violinist Regina Buenaventura assisted on the piano by Mary Ann Espina, the 1999 NAMCYA winner and granddaughter of National Artist for Music, Col. Antonino Buenaventura; pianist Carla Diño; and Elisante Cortez assisted on the piano by Molinder Cadiz, a star pupil of Irma Enrile-Potenciano, who is also a member of the Coro de San Antonio and the UST Liturgicon Vocal Ensemble.
Special guest performer was Hae Won Shin, a visiting flutist from Korea, accompanied on the piano by Greg Zuniega. Hae Won Shin is the resident flutist of St. Scholasticas College, and was featured at the recent Manila Symphony Orchestra II Concert held at St. Cecilias Hall of the same school.
Cyndy Tan-Jarabata, the Tower Clubs affable and indefatigable membership director, recently celebrated her birthday at the Tower Clubs Barons Bar with her family and friends, a number of whom came in lucky red.
The guests ooh-ed and aah-ed at the fabulous array of delicacies, wine and drinks that filled the stylishy set tables and as only the Tower Club chefs can create.
Cyndy was glamorously clad in a black gown with sparkly swirls, looking like she stepped out of her favorite TV show, Sex and the City. (Carrie Bradshaw surely might have asked Cyndy to join her gang had she seen you in Cyndys "clinging" attire).
Cyndy blew the candles on her cake with her sister and fellow celebrator Cecile. Tower Club chef Zaldy Ladroma and Cheong Kwan Leong prepared the yummy chocolate cake. Among the guests seen happily toasting the sisters were their parents Claire and Tirso; Cyndy s husband Greg; superb ad man Rey David; and construction queen Celia Cuasay, among others.
Congratulations, Cyndy, for becoming more beautiful with each passing day and for helping make the Tower Club the countrys undisputed premier business and social club! May you lead a long, peaceful and happy life!
The stars recently descended on the trendiest hangout in the Metro, Eastwood City Libis, to view Blocmode, the ultimate fashion forecast. The show featured the Oriental-inspired creations of well-liked designer Eddie Baddeo and the hip Spring/Summer Collections of Mango, Replay and the swimsuit store Nothing But Water.
The fashion show took place in the popular Celadon Asian Cuisine restaurant, owned by our good friend, hardworking and alluring Thelina Nuval. Effervescent in a floral printed dress, Thelina entertained the 250-plus guests who dined and witnessed the show directed by Ricci Reyes Ang and organized by Arnold Cruzs Behind the Scene Productions.
Balay Kandila illuminated the place with fanciful candles. The fabulous guests included Mangos president Edi Tekeli; soap actress Marjorie Barretto and her comedian husband Dennis Padilla; PDIs Lifestyle editor Chelo Banal-Formoso; Serge and Yoli Ayson; Mayenne Carmona; Mondragons Tony Gonzalez; voluptuous Rachel Lobangco; singer Calvin Millado; action stars Cesar Montano and Raymart Santiago; Mike Toledo; photographer Pepper Teehankee; and power couple Louie and Cecile Ysmael.
Cheers to you, Thelina, on another triumphant endeavor!
Happy birthday to our celebrators today, Corito Galvez de Claro and Oli Laperal.
Advanced greetings to Mita Rufino, Mimi Valerio and Arlene Lucas-Miguel, July 22; Walter Bucher, July 23; jetsetter Mayenne Carmona, Tower Clubs Founding Board of Governor Ambassador Ramon del Rosario Sr. and Tata Manahan, July 25.
