Cassy Legaspi diagnosed with Hypothyroidism
MANILA, Philippines — Kapuso actress Cassy Legaspi was diagnosed with Hypothyroidism.
In her guesting in "Kapuso Artistambayan," Cassy said that her Hypothyroidism affected her fitness journey and overall health.
“I was fatigued tapos intense falling hair. Sobra talaga. Tapos palagi akong nilalamig, parang may fever ako palagi, pero fever na nilalamig, parang ganoon,” Cassy revealed.
“Hindi ko ma-explain, but [I was] always sick tapos hindi ko na kaya mag-gym, mag-workout, hindi na ako madaldal. Who is Cassy without being madaldal?” she added.
Cassy said that her goal now is to be healthy.
“Iyong friends ko and my family, napapansin nila, parang medyo tumamlay [ako]. So noong nagpa-check-up ako, I started [thinking] na, 'Okay, I think 'yung goal ko is -- ayaw ko nang… gusto ko magpapayat, ganu'n. I think my new goal is to be healthy,” Cassy said.
“E noong na-change 'yung mindset ko na gusto kong maging healthy, aba! Pak! Ganoon pala 'yun, guys. Ganoon pala 'yun. All this time.
“Sabi ko talaga, 'Alam mo, at this point, Cassandra, 'wag ka nang [magpapayat]; maging healthy ka muna. Pagkatapos ng healthy, doon ka na maging sexy.' Parang ganoon, may abs, may muscles.”
According to the US' National Institutes of Health (NIH), Hypothyroidism or underactive thyroid "is when the thyroid gland doesn't make enough thyroid hormones to meet your body's needs."
"Thyroid hormones control the way your body uses energy, so they affect nearly every organ in your body, even the way your heart beats," NIH said. "Without enough thyroid hormones, many of your body’s functions slow down."
