Fill your own cup: Catriona Gray encourages self-care for 2025
MANILA, Philippines — Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray is calling on people to practice looking after themselves year as a primary goal for the new year.
The host-beauty queen attended a soda event held in Bonifacio Global City last January 18 where she talked about self-care, how it is defined by oneself and it could differ a lot from person to person.
"We all are busying ourselves with something, especially within the context of 'I want to set goals this year,' medyo nakaka-overwhelming siya sometimes," Catriona said, noting that some people wnat to travel, hit the gym, save money, or get a job or degree.
"It's great to be a go-getter to set plans and goals, but the thing is if you're not looking out for yourself, there will be burnout and it is so real," she continued. "As you keep going through the year, you may find moments where you become overwhelmed or it is too much, and that's completely normal."

Catriona went on to define self-care as how to respond to situation and act in accordance to asking oneself, "'What can I do in order to take a step back?"
As an example, Catriona said her jobs involve being around a lot of people like live events or hosting, so her self-care to remedy that is to decompress during her alone time, being a self-proclaimed introvert.
Some of the activities she's been doing lately are painting, reading, or trying out pickleball with her best friend and fellow host-beauty queen Nicole Cordoves.
To switch out from work Catriona always practices not using her phone past 10 p.m., given social media plays a part in her career as well so she needs that cut-off time.
"My self-care is that distance and giving the parameters to make sure that this is 'my' time now, then I'll be able to give more at work because I've filled up my own cup. We cannot fill others' cups if ours are empty," Catriona ended.
