Barbie Forteza shares skincare tips, routine in ‘Pulang Araw’
MANILA, Philippines — Barbie Forteza said it was not an easy set while filming the period war drama “Pulang Araw,” but the actress has learned skincare tips that proved valuable for one of her most important assets as an actress — her skin.
Camera lights are particularly harsh on the skin, but when they are compounded by nature’s elements, such as the sun’s rays, dust, and harsh winds, their effects will be seen on the skin.
Barbie said that her recently concluded war drama was particularly “emotionally and physically draining.” It made her and her glam team double up on taking care of her skin, which had been praised in the past for its luminous and glowing quality.
“Marami po talagang challenges at isa na doon ang ‘yung medyo exposed sa araw ‘yung skin ko. Not just that, putik, dust. Kasi sa gyera kami sa gubat sa Tanay ‘yun. So bukod sa araw, putik naman. So talagang kailangan kong alagaan ang skin ko ng extra, extra,” the actress said.
She played Adelina, a Bodabil (vaudeville) star who joined the armed resistance against the invading Japanese Imperial Army. “Pulang Araw” is set during the World War II in the Philippines.
For her gruelling schedule on the set, she took care of the basics, such as applying moisturizer and sunscreen. She added an extra layer of protection by taking in collagen, which has a number of health functions that include helping boost the skin’s elasticity.
Barbie was recently tapped as the first ambassador for collagen brand 9-Young Basic.
For the actress, however, taking care of the skin and herself is more than skin-deep. She makes sure that she is surrounded by positivity, which helps her emotional and mental wellbeing.
“Throughout the day, I see myself surrounding with good people, with my friends. Even at work, even though its challenging given the demands, I see to it na nae-enjoy ko ‘yung trabaho ko. And I always try to see the good in everything. It really helps when you’re friends with your co-workers. Maganda ‘yung environment niyo sa set masaya ka umuwi at fulfilled ka. Just love what you do and love yourself,” Barbie said.
