Peru and the Philippines celebrate 50 years of diplomatic ties
A vibrant tapestry of friendship was woven as the Republic of Peru and the Republic of the Philippines commemorated the 50th anniversary of the establishment of their diplomatic relations. A diplomatic reception at Bonifacio Hall A, Shangri-La at The Fort, Taguig City, was a celebration of the shared values, mutual respect, and the enduring bond between the two nations.
The event was graced by distinguished dignitaries, including Ambassador of Peru to the Philippines Cecilia Galarreta Bazán; Secretary of Foreign Affairs Enrique A. Manalo; Secretary Ivan John Uy of the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT); Charles C. Jose, Undersecretary for Multilateral Affairs and International Economic Relations (OUMAIER) of the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA); Papal Nuncio Charles Brown III; Honorary Consul General Dr. Francis Chua; members of the diplomatic corps; government officials, business leaders and the dynamic Peruvian community in the Philippines.
Chua, in his welcome remarks, highlighted the significance of the 50th anniversary and expressed his admiration for Ambassador Galarreta’s leadership. As Honorary Consul General for 18 years, Chua has been dedicated to supporting the Peruvian community in the Philippines and fostering collaboration in various areas. His mission has been to enhance cooperation in politics, trade, and culture, recognizing the Philippines’ strategic position as a gateway to ASEAN.
