Impeccable craftsmanship and a storied history of luxury come together in the brand name Baccarat. It’s a company known for their high-end and luxury crystal products, with a provenance steeped in royalty, in stately mansions and homes, and as highly valued family treasures. Baccarat and the Lucerne Group/Casa Euro are happy and proud to announce that Baccarat now has a new Manila home.

The Baccarat flagship store in the Philippines was launched at the Ground Floor of Shangri-La Plaza, East Wing, on Dec. 12, 2023. And what can make for better timing than to have this happen amid the season that the Philippines is known for celebrating with so much gusto: the Christmas season?

In light of the holidays and to celebrate the opening of the flagship boutique, an official tree lighting led by Emerson Yao and Clément Brunet-Moret brought joyous smiles to all the special guests. This tree was decorated with two truly unique Baccarat chandeliers: the Zenith Charleston 12L chandelier, and the Le Roi Soleil 24L chandelier. The Charleston collection is inspired by the Roaring Twenties, and is adorned by champagne-draped prisms, while the Le Roi Soleil celebrates a contemporary twist of the iconic Zénith chandelier, assimilating a perfect spherical shape with its curved lampshades.

If Christmas is in the air, then music will inevitably follow, and the lovely, glissando notes of a Steinway & Sons piano accompanied the dulcet voices of soprano Lara Maigue and tenor Gian Magdangal as they performed songs of love, joy, and celebration.

Baccarat can boast of a provenance that dates to 1764. With the permission of King Louis XV, a group of daring and skilled artisans from Baccarat, in the Lorraine region of Eastern France, harnessed the four elements of earth, air, fire, and water and created unparalleled crystal masterpieces. The craftsmanship, artistry, and purity of the pieces so astounded the world that it created a legacy.

A legacy that has turned the name from where it all started into a universally recognized luxury brand, and as a term globally associated with the highest quality of crystal products.

The flagship store at the Shangri-La Plaza Mall is a showcase of what Baccarat stands for and why it deserves the equity and high-value proposition it’s known for. The signature Baccarat red will be an important element of the boutique’s decor, as it represents one of the historical alchemy secrets of the brand. This red hue is created by fusing 24k gold powder into the crystal.

Baccarat has always been a multi-generational value proposition; the crystal products acquired and collected by the older generation are then passed on, treasured, and expanded on by the following generation. Their collaborations with such contemporary designers and artists such as Marcel Wanders and Philippe Starck have created relevance for the brand, even among younger collectors.

On the cusp of its 260th year, the Baccarat name has lost none of its “red” luster and glory, and continues to symbolize what French Art de Vivre is all about.
