In a grand celebration of tradition and camaraderie, the Catholic Women’s Club’s (CWC) Annual Tea, an esteemed gathering since 1939, held its 2023 edition at the Alabang Country Club in Ayala Alabang Village, Muntinlupa City.
Sponsored by Reuben Valerio, the supportive husband of CWC president Mimi Valerio, the event showcased a rich history dating back to its inaugural assembly held at The Manila Hotel, attended by notable guests including the late, great former president Manuel Quezon and his wife, the late former first lady Aurora Quezon, who personally poured tea for esteemed attendees.
This year’s Annual Tea, chaired by CWC first vice president Terry Tambunting, honored longtime members and active past presidents, recognizing their invaluable contributions to the club’s 102 years of service to humanity. President Mimi led the awarding of specially made, limited-edition plates featuring the CWC patroness, Our Lady Help of Christians, to those who have achieved 25 years of service. In addition, committee chair Ningning de Ocampo led the launch of this year’s featured artist, Tam Austria, whose artwork, from the personal collection of Baby Hidalgo, was printed on the 2023 Limited Edition Plates.
The notable gathering was further highlighted with the presence of special guests, Senator Cynthia Villar and Bulacan Fourth District Representative Linabelle Villarica, who are active CWC members, during the Tea Pouring ceremony. An event steeped in history, art, and recognition, the CWC Annual Tea remains a timeless tradition of prestige and honor.
