WATCH: Pia Wurtzbach shares publishing novel among goals after Miss Universe
MANILA, Philippines — Beauty queen Pia Wurtzbach-Jauncey has been preparing to write a book since her reign as Miss Universe 2015, and that dream has come to fruition with the launch of "Queen of the Universe."
Pia officially launched her debut novel at the Manila International Book Fair at the SMX Convention Center last September 14, personally attending the book launch to talk about her latest endeavor.
Prior to signing books purchased by fans, Philstar.com asked the beauty queen-turned-author why she decided on a book as the medium to tell the story of the character Cleo, whom Pia admitted is loosely based on herself.
"I had the idea for a book kahit nung Miss Universe pa ako," Pia shared. "My fear then was was having an identity crisis of not knowing what to do after passing on the crown."

Pia noted that she had prepared to compete to become Miss Universe for years, but she never thought about what she would do post-reign should she win the title — which she did in dramatic fashion back in December 2015.
The beauty queen made a list of goals, which included having her own business, brand and even a perfume line; writing a book and starting a YouTube channel and podcast.
She wrote all of her ideas in notebooks, which she'd often look back on. Pia did not expect to achieve them all in one year, but she was rather waiting for the right time to check them off her list.
"Gusto ko rin 'yung handa ako mag-commit talaga, hindi 'yung masabi ko lang na, 'Oh, I have a book now,' pero 'di ka naman 100% in it," Pia continued.
A few years after crowning France's Iris Mittenaere as her successor, Pia managed to pitch some ideas to ABS-CBN Books, which led to the development of "Queen of the Universe" and, hopefully, other things she aspires to achieve.
