From boxing matches and basketball games to beauty pageants and concerts, there’s no doubt that the Smart Araneta Coliseum or the “Big Dome” was — and still is — one of the country’s iconic and premier event places.

And so, it’s not surprising why international modern roadside burger stand Shake Shack decided to open its first Stadium Shack not only in the country but in Asia-Pacific in Araneta City, right smack in this iconic stadium.

The Stadium Shack mural depicts characters and scenes that encapsulate the essence of music, movement, excitement, celebration, and local historical milestones that invite visitors to experience the energy at the newest Shack.

The Stadium Shack

No two Shake Shacks are the same. And this Stadium Shack is no exception. This new outlet commemorates the fusion of innovation, heritage, and the vibrant tapestry of people converging at the Big Dome — from beauty, sports, and K-pop enthusiasts to religious groups.

“It’s called the Stadium Shack because we’re right beside the stadium,” enthused Joan Aquino, general manager, Specialty Food Retailers Inc., during the press preview. “It is very different and this is the lone Shack in the country with a counter resembling that of a stadium.”

Nothing beats good food and good company. Pair this with the thrill of watching an exhilarating game or vibing to your fave singer or band in the world and a core memory is born.

The Stadium Shack is, indeed, the perfect venue to celebrate togetherness, team spirit, diversity, and inclusivity. And artist Bitto’s mural depicts just that.

“As for the mural, I took inspiration from what the Araneta City (Center) is known for,” Bitto said. “I tried to capture all the historical moments that have transpired in the Big Dome: the ‘Thrilla in Manila,’ the Miss Universe pageants, PBA and NCAA games, among others.”

Bitto’s paintings feature a recurring cast of characters captured in encapsulated moments, offering intimate and familiar snapshots of everyday life.

For the Stadium Shack, Bitto showcased vibrant color palettes depicting characters and scenes that encapsulate the essence of music, movement, excitement, celebration, and local historical milestone that invite people to experience the energy that permeates the burger joint.
