Victims of rebel atrocities

- Eloisa B. Buñag, Amorsolo, Makati City -

It seems that the bad elements in our society, aside from common criminals stump the good deeds of government workers, the police, the soldiers and other well-meaning individuals who find fulfillment in service. Just last March 19, 2012, six health workers were abducted by suspected ASG members in Sulu and in Iligan City, two schoolteachers were also snatched. Last February, the papers reported the ambush by NPA of peace development workers made up of soldiers conducting the AFP Bayanihan Program for the communities.

This is becoming a trend to these elements, preying on government workers not to send any message of value, but show themselves as the worst of bandits, robbers and killers of society. This attitude of theirs towards government workers has much to say about them – they do not care for the welfare of others, they shame the government and they do not want peace and development for these, they stand in the way of their illegal activities.

Soldiers, police, civilians, government workers, teachers, name them and they have become poor victims of NPA, ASG and their compatriots in conducting atrocities and violence. But what comes out of all these is that these groups show they are the real enemies of the people. They are the clear and present danger to Philippine society.
