Letters to the Editor

Setting the records straight

- Rolando Dela Cuesta -

May I call your attention to a glaring error in the Oct. 27, 2011 column of Ms. Preciosa Soliven (Point of Awareness). In said column, she said, “Other Marcos men included Rolly de la Cuesta (later Secretary of Defense), administrator of Philippine Coco Authority xxx”. To set the records straight, I served as a member of the staff of the then Secretary of Defense, Juan Ponce Enrile (now Senate President) from 1970 to 1983. I did not become a Secretary of Defense. For the sake of accuracy, may I clarify that I was connected with the Philippine Coconut Authority, as Minister of Coconut Industries, and chairman of the governing board and not as administrator.

Furthermore, she wrote that I was president of North Greenhills Association (1876-1977) which is an impossibility (to say the least).

In the interest of verity, may we ask that this letter be published by your prestigious newspaper.
