Help prevent corruption
MANILA, Philippines - As a concerned citizen I cannot just watch corruption getting worse without doing anything to stop it. It is indeed noticeable that this perennial morality problem is being addressed similar to a merry-go-round that keeps on spinning in the same direction. We must admit that the present solution is a failure because the “kanya-kanya” and “bahala na” attitudes of the people have become a barrier to its success.
Fighting corruption should not just be government’s concern; it should also be the people’s. We cannot fight corruption without enlisting the people in your ranks but you cannot get the people in your ranks without changing their culture. If we can have a culture of corruption, we can also have a culture of honesty.
Parents must have overlooked that values formation starts in the home. What the parents do, teach, and say whether right or wrong is inculcated in the minds of their children, most especially those in the formative years. Remember, the Filipino child has changed. He is no longer just a mouth to feed; not just a soul to care about; he has now become a mind to nurture.
This is the very reason why I formed a movement called “Crusade For a Better Youth Of Tomorrow” and authored a Pinoy Child book, a 1997 national bestseller that provides health, care, safety and education with over 400 illustrations written in English-Tagalog. This will guide parents raise their children the right way for them to become better children of God and better citizens of tomorrow.
If you love our country, I am inviting you to help raise a new breed of Filipinos in the generations to come by joining this movement. Hopefully in the future corruption will no longer exist.
