Is 2020 the last year of the current decade or the first year of the new decade? —MV
Dear MV,
Makaingon ta nga this is debatable. “There was no year 0. Therefore a decade is 1–10, 11–20, 1991-2000, 2011-2020”. – www.timeanddate.com. So, gikan sa mathematical point of view, ang new decade is still in the year 2021. But from a cultural point of view, the decade begins this year. Ngano ? Because when we refer to decades such as the 70’s or 80’s, we usually think about the years starting from 0-9. So, moingon na lang ta , both points of view are indeed highly debatable, but acceptable; para way lalis.
