Do you go for a Mar-Noynoy or a Noynoy-Mar Liberal Party tandem?
Noynoy for president
Leonard Villa, Batac City: It should be a Noynoy-Mar tandem for it to succeed. The yellow brigade’s political power, founded on the Ninoy-Cory legacy, will catapult the tandem to victory.
Jaime Ferrer, Metro Manila: My family and I will vote only Noynoy for president because, like his parents, he will have no hidden agenda when he becomes president.
Ignacio Anacta, Metro Manila: Noynoy can run for president, and he should pick a different candidate for vice president. Mar is rich, famous, and intelligent, but short on mass appeal. Noynoy is humble, with great parents, and may end up as the president we have been hoping and praying for!
Imee Aglibot, USA: It’s Noynoy-Mar for me. Mar may be far better than Noynoy in terms of accomplishments and qualifications, but I will bank on Noynoy for I know that he has the qualities and virtues of both Ninoy and Cory. Noynoy could be honed to become the rightful successor of his parents in time.
Jesse Bautista, Cavite: I’d prefer Noynoy-Mar. Mar’s commercials, besides being electioneering, make him look like a trapo. Noynoy is noble, and his girlfriend, I believe, would make an ideal first lady.
Elizabeth Oximer, Negros Occidental: It’s Noynoy-Mar for me. The “Noynoy for president” clamor is gaining ground and is going to be overwhelming in the next few days.
Lydia Reyes, Bataan: I’d rather go for a Noynoy-Mar tandem. They are sure winners as millions of Filipinos clamor for Noynoy to become the next president of the country.
Vic Nario, Dagupan City: I suggest that Mar and Noynoy have a double wedding first, but my bet is a Noynoy-Mar tandem.
Fortunato Aguirre, Bulacan: With the outpouring of the people’s support for the Aquinos and Noynoy’s soaring popularity sans infomercials, I’m for a Noynoy-Mar tandem. Go, go, go, Noynoy! Prove that you are Ninoy’s son.
C.K. Yeo, Iloilo City: I go for Noynoy for president. Noynoy is the least corruptible among the candidates; he will protect the Aquino legacy. After so long, we direly need someone honest as president.
Noynoy is not yet ready
Cris Rivera, Rizal: Noynoy, as an opposition senator, has yet to achieve a remarkable feat that Filipinos can remember him for.
William Gonzaga, Marikina City: Though I like Noynoy, I think I would settle for a Mar-Noynoy tandem. I know both have the capacity to run the nation, are highly educated, and have the experience, money and everything, but as of now, I see that Noynoy is not yet ripe for the position that some sectors want him in. Rose Leobrera, Manila
It is more appropriate that Noynoy Aquino be the VP and Mar Roxas be the LP standard bearer in the 2010 elections. With the revival of the yellow fever that will absolutely benefit a Mar-Noynoy tandem, even the massive use of government resources will not carry PGMA’s bets to victory.
Noynoy could unite the opposition
Robert Young Jr., San Juan: It should be Noynoy-Mar. Mar won’t be able to unite the splintered opposition; Noynoy can. The opposition owes the Aquinos. For the love of country, Mar should give way to Noynoy, like Doy did for Cory. A Noynoy-Mar tandem will get the support of Erap and other opposition. On the other hand, Mar-Noynoy is sure to lose.
Noynoy should give way to Mar
Ricardo Tolentino, Laoag City: Mar-Noynoy will be the right combination. Experience-wise, Mar is more seasoned and more mature.
Germi C. Sison, Cabanatuan City: I prefer a Mar-Noynoy tandem. While Noynoy is more popular today than Mar due to the recent death of President Cory, he is not yet prepared. The vice presidency will be appropriate for him to gain more experience in the executive position in future preparation for the presidency. Noynoy could be reluctant like his mother when she ran against Marcos, but that could be their only similarity. On the other hand, Mar is more experienced and prepared for the presidency than Noynoy. A Mar-Noynoy ticket could assure the Liberal Party of victory in the 2010 presidential election.
Pedro Alagano Sr., Vigan City: I’m for a Mar-Noynoy tandem. Being VP will prepare Noynoy well for the top post in 2016. That way, whoever is at the helm will be pressured to do his very best for our country and people.
Eddie Yap, Kabankalan City: I absolutely go for a Mar-Noynoy tandem. The Noynoy-Mar tandem would obviously make it appear the former is taking advantage of the deluge of condolences and emotions, coming not only from the country, but all over the world, over the death of his mom Cory. Noynoy will bide his time. He will finish first his term as a senator and make good in it. If Filipinos still go for him after his term, this will be proof enough that they really like him as he is, sans the influence of his famous parents.
Caloy Ariola, Gumaca, Quezon: I will go for Mar-Noynoy. Noynoy should train to lead the country based on Ninoy’s, Cory’s, and the Filipinos’ dreams.
Jim Veneracion, Naga City: I’ll go for a Mar-Noynoy tandem for it will be more practical and less complicated. I don’t see Mar sliding down as veep. Noynoy should give way.
Sandy Escobar, Ilocos Sur: I’d rather go for a Mar-Noynoy Liberal Party tandem since Mar is already decided, while Noynoy is not so. But either would make a great tandem.
Dr. Dennis Acop, Baguio City: I would go for a Mar-Noynoy Liberal Party tandem. I think Mar’s attributes are better suited for the presidency than Noynoy’s. However, given time and experience as vice-president, I am of the opinion that Noynoy can eventually govern as commander-in-chief. Noynoy is kind of laid back and does not really seem to have that fire in his belly to seek the presidency. Like his mother, Noynoy may need to be prodded and convinced by a significant number of supporters before he actually runs for higher office. More than anything, I believe that this tandem is most desirable relative to the morally bankrupt one we currently have.
Phons Ang, Itbayat, Batanes: I think Noynoy is too “green” to be President. His performance record is not as shiny as that of Mar Roxas. Di biro to be President. The fate of 93 million Pinoys is at stake. Noynoy cannot just ride on his parents’ name to win but no doubt his name is clean. I am inclined to support a Mar-Noynoy tandem. That will be sure a landslide win!
Mar should give way to Noynoy
Rod Villar, Iriga City: I prefer a Noynoy-Mar tandem. Noynoy, for me, is more credible, although he still lacks the will, assertiveness, eloquence, decisiveness, and other personal traits of his illustrious father. I know that he was a former representative and an incumbent senator but I do not know what he has done, if any, as a legislator for his own district and for the country. I believe in due time Noynoy will eventually learn effective governance and I will vote for him if he intends to run in 2010 for whatever position.
Billy Valero, Pakil, Laguna: I go for a Noynoy-Mar LP tandem and I say that this is a formidable combination. Mar should do a Doy Laurel.
Ed Gulmatico, Yemen: As a sensible OFW along with thousands more who can only balance desperation and inspiration, we in Yemen would prefer a Noynoy-Mar Liberal party tandem. If they, especially Mar Roxas, are really sincere with their objectives of good governance, change, reformation, and transformation of our country, this is the best gift and sacrifice they can offer. If Mar Roxas really loves the Filipino people and the whole country, he better give way and settle for the vice presidency.
Armando Tavera, Las Piñas City: A Mar-Noynoy tandem would be less formidable, if I may say so. The LP should pick somebody better than Mar. He is a burden to the party.
Concepcion Gaspar, Laoag City: Since the direct heir of the Aquino legacy of integrity and honest governance is Noynoy, and he is fighting to uphold his parents’ ideals, a Noynoy-Roxas tandem will be a sure victory.
I.Q. Calata, Parañaque City: If we’re talking of a Liberal Party tandem that will have a good chance in the 2010 elections, I believe a Noynoy-Mar pairing is better than the other way around, simply because of the sudden popularity of the former as a result of recent events.
Ching Gaspar, Laoag City: A Noynoy-Roxas tandem would have a stronger impact considering the overwhelming accolades given to the departed Aquino couple. Strike while the iron is hot.
Ruel Bautista, Laguna: I’ll go for Noynoy-Mar. Noynoy should strike while the pot is still hot. He’s never been involved in any wrongdoing that could have tarnished the Aquinos’ legacy.
It’s the team-up of the century
Alexander Raquepo, Ilocos Sur: It’s a dream team! I just hope that they have the visions of their fathers and grandfathers for a better country in their systems.
Emeldinand Motas, Baguio City: I agree with either tandem because they are one team and they have the same mission. The Liberal Party is the known party of the opposition and I am willing to vote for them because I know that with them at the helm, the Philippines will be in good hands.
Loi Castillo, Davao City: Now is the best time for Mar to team up with Noynoy. He already has Korina; then Noynoy. They will be a formidable team. It has all the right ingredients.
Lucas Banzon Madamba II, Laguna: The tandem of Mar Roxas and Noynoy Aquino will be the team-up of the century. Both of them are intelligent, brilliant, smart, disciplined and hardworking. They both have integrity, good spiritual foundations, and good visions for the country. Both of them also possess popularity and public appeal. I will support whoever gets the nod of their party for President.
Danny Lacuesta, Las Piñas City: Yes, a Mar-Noynoy tandem will uphold the rule of law, unlike now when Speaker Nograles seems bent on not implementing the HRET disqualification.
They won’t win
Edwin Castillo, Tanauan City: The Mar-Noynoy tandem in LP is lumang pamumulitika ng partido kapamilya; Cubao-Araneta and Hacienda Luisita represent old politics of the oligarchy.
Aldo Apostol, Quezon City: Ramdam ko kayo....you will not win!
Luisito Vallo, Pangasinan: No, I don’t think it would be a good choice. Mar is too much a trapo to effect the proper changes our country needs. Sa infomercial pa lang niya ay kitang-kita na he is just another traditional politician. Noynoy, I think, is not qualified enough to lead us, even though he carries the blood and the name of a great man. I would go for a Fernando-Teodoro or a Teodoro-Fernando tandem because I see in them the qualities of great leaders.
Chips off the old block
Kelvin Casamayor, Ilocos Sur: Either will do. They both have the capacity to lead and to serve the nation.
Johann Lucas, Quezon City: Mar-Noynoy or Noynoy-Mar is fine by me. They should work together because they are fruits that come from good trees. They should join forces for the sake of the country and for the sake of progress.
Rowena Remiendo, Quezon City: I’d go for a Noynoy-Mar Liberal Party tandem because in Noynoy’s veins runs the blood of his parents.
Renato Taylan, Ilocos Norte: Either Mar-Noynoy or Noynoy-Mar tandem will do-the beatable or winnable duo.
Mar and Noynoy are not their parents
Ric Vergara, Calamba City: Gerry Roxas and Ninoy are certified good leaders. Diosdado Macapagal was also a good president, but look what happened to his daughter.
Erwin Espinosa, Pangasinan: Mar and Noynoy are the opposites of their illustrious parents. Trapo ang dating nila sa pulitika.
Rodolfo Talledo, Angeles City: Merely riding on a perceived sentiment evoked by the recent death of his mother is not sufficient. Noynoy has not shown any special qualities needed in a leader. He is naive, reluctant, and too indecisive for power play. Roxas is volatile, too feisty, and lacks basic decorum for a president. Neither.
Sorry. Gerii Calupitan, Muntinlupa City: Noynoy-Mar or Mar-Noynoy? Mar is more like it, but why elect a pair of mama’s boys with trophy girlfriends? Noynoy-Mar are only good as senators; kapag tumaas pa diyan, overacting na sila.
Jun Montebon, Parañaque City: Does it matter? They should be judged by their own track records, not their surnames. By the way, how come both are still unmarried?
They would be the team to beat
Col. Ben Paguirigan Jr., Ret., Zamboanga City: A Mar-Noynoy or Noynoy-Mar teamup will be a formidable tandem that will give other aspirants a run for their money. We’ll vote and campaign for them.
Jose Parco, Kalibo, Aklan: This is a very formidable team, whichever the combination will be. It is like a breath of fresh air considering the present state of our political system. Neither is tainted. I’m not saying they’re saints, but they are highly qualified for the very demanding job at hand. They can and they will make a big positive difference for our country.
Ruben Viray, Metro Manila: The pairing of Mar and Noynoy is promising, but it does not guarantee that good governance will be in place. If they make it, the citizenry will expect a lot from them.
Sahlee Reyes, Las Piñas City: Actually, I’d go for a Mar-Noynoy tandem, which I think would be the team to beat. Mar is a seasoned no-nonsense politician with quite an impressive performance as a hard-hitting principled senator. He would make a good President. While Noynoy may have the millions of Cory-Ninoy diehards behind him and the idealism, fortitude, sincerity, integrity, faith in God, love, and unswerving loyalty to our countrymen, he still needs to learn the ropes of effective governance.
Lea Ona, Pasig City: I will go for a Mar-Noynoy Liberal Party tandem. Let’s not rock the boat anymore! The tandem is already a sure shot! Since Noynoy is still undecided, six years is such a short time for Noynoy to make up his mind to eventually run for president.
Elpidio Que, Vigan: A Mar-Noynoy tandem is, for me, a welcome development for our country. Sen. Jovy so desires it, and who am I to question his wisdom as a rare intellectual and untainted ex-public servant?
Jimmy Donton, Puerto Princesa City: A Mar-Noynoy tandem is politically feasible. We all know that Western Visayas would go for Roxas, while Aquino is popular in media networks’ campaigns.
What is their platform?
Jonah Cordel, Pasig City: A Mar-Noynoy ticket does not ring a bell; these two spoiled brats from families of big hacienderos do not even have a program or platform for the ordinary people.
Ed Alawi, Davao City: Either tandem will do, but first we would like to hear what they will do to undo what PGMA has done, such as in corruption and political patronage.
The Aquinos do not wish it for Noynoy
Elsa Mendoza, Quezon City: Neither. Although I am pro-Aquino, let us respect the family’s, especially his two sisters’, general resolve for Noynoy not to throw his hat into the higher political arena now.
Sounds interesting
L.C. Fiel, Quezon City: The tandem, whatever the configuration may be, sounds exciting at the moment but the reality is that after a while, new tandems will surely get our attention, and there’s Erap to contend with who is dangling his persona for a possible return to the political arena. What say you, Mar and Noynoy?
Jae Delos Santos, Muntinlupa City: None of the above. I’ll go for a Bayani-Noynoy or Noynoy-Bayani tandem. This is a strong combination of political will and integrity.
Dino Monzon, Caloocan City: My choice is neither of the two suggested tandems, but a long shot: Why not a Bongbong Marcos-Noynoy Aquino pairing or vice versa in 2010?
