Dennis Acop, Baguio City: The words I have for Manny Pacquiao is that he is the greatest, not Muhammad Ali, Sugar Ray Leonard, or Oscar dela Hoya, but Manny Pacquiao! The Pacman has once again made every Filipino anywhere on the planet proud of where they came from. And it is such a welcome feeling especially for us locals who have felt shame most of the time from our politics and poverty which are among the worst in the entire world. Even for yet another brief shining moment, the Pacman has united all Filipinos anywhere  something no president, senator, or congressman could ever do. I hope Manny does not join politics after his illustrious boxing career. Manny will be able to help other people more by staying out of politics instead of being in it. I agree with Freddie Roach who said that Manny should fight twice more at most perhaps against Hatton or Mayweather and then retire as the greatest boxer of all time.

Steer clear of politics

Robert Young Jr., San Juan: Manny, I heard you are running for Congress; you should not. You will just be disillusioned when you discover what solons are doing. Your fair weather political friends just want to use your popularity for their own benefit. If you want to share your wealth with your fellow Filipinos, maybe you can put up sports complexes all over the country to train future boxers and athletes. You will find this more rewarding.  

Lito Flores, Aklan: Congratulations, mabuhay ka Manny! But please huwag mong gamitin ang iyong kamao para sa mga corrupt na mga pulitiko.  

Jim Veneracion, Naga City: Saludo ako sa iyo, Manny. If you’re thinking of politics after boxing, please don’t. Your hard-earned fortune might to go waste. Politics is full of leeches.

Just leave that dirty House to trapos. You will just be booed by your millions of fans if you do. You can always help the needy better even if you’re not in politics. Germi Sison, Cabanatuan City: Manny Pacquiao is so bent on giving his best in serving his suffering people that he finds politics as the best venue to accomplish his mission. However, he must realize that an executive position is better for him than a legislative one. Mayor Alfredo Lim, a lawyer, a veteran public servant and an experienced politician, found his three-year stint at the Senate disappointing. Now, again as Mayor of Manila, he is enjoying more and serving his constituents better. Manny will improve his skill in public service if he finishes his course in public administration that is concentrated on public governance. Who knows, if he becomes a good mayor or governor, he might also become a good president. Good luck, Manny, in your dream to serve your people without punching.  

I.Q. Calata, Parañaque City: Congratulations, Manny. You are now in the circle of current world champions and big names in the sports world who have made themselves super rich and famous. After a possible match with the Manchester fighter, Ricky Hatton, it may be time to call it quits and retire a champion. Don’t allow your name, fame and fortune to be tainted and wasted like many sportsmen in the past who indulged in wanton wasteful activities, becoming paupers in the end.
