Happy St. Patrick’s Day! Many who would normally use this celebratory weekday as an excuse to extend the weekend are thwarted by astrological vibes that seem to whisper words like "responsibility" and phrases like "think of who might be counting on you." It’s hard to effectively party while Mercury and Saturn are playing the stern parents.

ARIES (March 21-April 19). Your tendency toward idealism will be shaken up a practical earth sign in your midst (Taurus, Capricorn of Virgo) who will want all progress to be absolutely tangible. Special efforts made by loved ones should be applauded.

TAURUS (April 20-May 20). The big lessons of the day are patience and perseverance. Of course, you’d rather be learning lessons like how to spend all the money that seems to fall down from the sky wherever you walk.

GEMINI (May 21-June 21). Productivity ebbs and flows. A Mary Poppins moment this afternoon is somewhere along the lines of the spoon full of sugar that helps the medicine go down. Give that tedious task a fun new name, and attack it afresh.

CANCER (June 22-July 22). When it comes to judging another person’s character, or building your own, it’s consistency that counts. Financial issues arise in the afternoon, especially between partners who are still learning to trust one another.

LEO (July 23-Aug. 22). If things are not going right, you’ve got everything you need to recognize the problem early on and do what you have to in order to reverse the trend. Romantic issues are a mix of pleasure and pain.
