WATCH: Alden Richards shares how he lost 25 lbs in 3 months

MANILA, Philippines — Actor Alden Richards gave Philstar.com a peek of his rock-hard six-pack abs that got viewers salivating in some scenes of his latest blockbuster film with Kathryn Bernardo, "Hello, Love, Goodbye."

In an exclusive interview for the launch of his first collaboration fashion collection Avel x Alden with international Filipino designer Avel Bacudio, Alden revealed how he achieved his new physique.

While the actor refused to flash his abs in the video, he shared how he got it and how he plans to maintain it.

According to him, it took him "three consistent months" of Intermittent Fasting, eating right and workouts to lose 25 pounds and sculpt his body.

“I really maintained the look I got from the movie. After ‘Hello, Love, Goodbye,’ since I’m in this state of physical fitness already, and it’s really serving me well right now not only physically but also how I move. I’m healthier, better, I think better, I sleep better, I work better," he said.

The first six days to first month is always crucial to find your passion and dedication to the goal, he reminded.

"When eating, choose healthier options. Instead of meat, (go for) fish or chicken instead of pork," he advised.

“Switching, parang pakabusog ka muna dito sa healthier option saka ka tumikim. Ganun kasi ‘yung technique ko eh. I stuff myself with camote or saging na saba before eating anything para busog ka na. Then the tendency is you eat less."

“Magpapabili na ko ng camote at saging… hilaw?” asked Bacudio during the interview.

“Boiled naman, pare," Alden enthused.

He also got himself into a wide array of exercises, with help from a trainer.

"‘Yung trainer ko mixes and matches a lot of exercises that really helped me a lot in achieving the body that I have now," he shared.

“Kaya lang kasi now, 20 percent na lang si workout eh. Eight percent is what you really take in. What’s inside. So kahit workout ka ng malala and yet babawiin mo s’ya sa kain, scrap din ‘yung workout. Nothing will happen."

As a fast food restaurant endorser and owner, however, Richards admitted that he also cheats.

“Pero s’yempre, we’ll not forget the cheats in between, which is burger, fries, ganyan. Fast food tayo."

He confessed that more doors opened to him since he got leaner.

“So far, I’m maintaining it. Parang nakuha ko na ‘yung rhythm. So it became my lifestyle already. So parang ayaw ko na s’ya i-let go. I’m in this state already so itutuloy ko na s’ya." — Video and editing by Kat Leandicho
