Celebrity mom Dimples Romana shares reasons for speaking at women’s conference
When you hear or read the word “celebrity,” what is the first thing that comes to your mind? Do you see a pretty face? Do you imagine a million (or more!) adoring fans of said celebrity? Do you think of that celebrity’s family and history in showbiz?
How about the words “inspiring” and “God-centered”? Do they pop into your head when the word “celebrity” comes up?
Well, if you’re a fan or follower of celebrity mom Dimples Romana, those words may have been top of mind—along with these: “humble,” “approachable,” “simple yet classy.”
The aforementioned were actually some of the words that entered my thoughts when I found myself face to face with Dimples at the Catholic Social Media Awards Ceremony last year. I was there because my blog—TrulyRichandBlessed.com—had been nominated as “Best Catholic Blog.” Dimples had been nominated for the “Best Female Social Media Influencer.”
Little did I know that we’d end up sharing the same table, along with our spouses! I was surprised and a bit shy but, to my relief, Dimples was friendly and approachable. There wasn’t a bit of “snobbishness” in her, and we even chatted a bit (about what, I can’t remember now—blame it on #momnesia).
By God’s grace, Dimples and I both ended up as winners in our respective categories that night!
And I thought that I would never communicate with her again.
But I was wrong.
Sometime in November, I tried reaching out to Dimples via Instagram. I invited her to our first #DiamondsAmongDiapers gathering. (#DiamondsAmongDiapers is a support group for moms, which I started after much prayer and discernment.)
To my surprise, Dimples said “yes” to the invitation!
Unfortunately, due to unforeseen circumstances, she wasn’t able to make it to the gathering.
But I never stopped being inspired by her and her social media posts, especially those that centered on God and family.
Dimples set to inspire and encourage women at conference
It’s no wonder then that Dimples will be one of the speakers at the upcoming Jewels Conference for women. The Jewels Conference is a one-day event that seeks to empower women in their personal journey of balancing their roles, careers, relationships, and dreams.
With the theme “Radiance”, the conference will be on Saturday, June 2, 2018, from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at the SMX Convention Center in Pasay City, Manila.
Joining Dimples as speakers at the conference are lay preacher, international speaker, and author Bo Sanchez, Rissa Singson-Kawpeng of “Kerygma Magazine,” Sr. Eppie Brasil of Regina Rica, film and television actress Ai Ai De Las Alas (another celebrity mom!) and worship leader Veia Lim-Vinas.
‘How can I say no to speaking about the Father’
Recently, I got to ask Dimples some questions about her being a speaker and she graciously agreed to answer them. Read on.
Philstar.com: How did you hear about the Jewels Conference? What did you feel when you were invited?
Dimples: A letter was sent through a very good friend of mine, a colleague from ABS-CBN. I felt honored. I’m not sure yet how I'll do it but I have faith that the Holy Spirit will guide me.
Philstar.com: What made you say "yes" to being a speaker at the Conference?
Dimples: It was a clear "yes" for me right away. How can I say "no" to speaking about the Father who has never left my side?
Philstar.com: What do you hope to share to the participants?
Dimples: I hope to share my journey as a woman of faith, a servant of the Lord. Hopefully, by sharing my experiences and how I found my path, they too will be inspired to find and create their own path.
Philstar.com: Do you have any words of encouragement or inspiration for all the women reading this? And maybe to the moms, especially?
Dimples: We never walk alone. As women, we wear so many hats and at times it can be tiring, and often we feel like we're on our own. And when these feelings come up we must remember our Father is always with us.
Truly encouraging words from a woman of faith. May more and more celebrities choose to use their influence to inspire others, just like Dimples!
