MANILA, Philippines — Cloudy skies and scattered rains are expected in various parts of the country due to the combined effects of the shear line and the northeast monsoon, locally known as amihan, according to the state weather bureau PAGASA.

In its forecast on Thursday, January 30, PAGASA reported that the shear line will influence weather conditions in the Visayas and the eastern section of Southern Luzon, while amihan will affect the rest of Luzon.

The Bicol Region, Eastern Visayas, Laguna, Quezon, Oriental Mindoro, Marinduque, Romblon, Aklan, and Capiz will experience cloudy skies with scattered rains and isolated thunderstorms.

Residents in these areas are advised to prepare for possible flash floods or landslides due to moderate to heavy rains, which may occasionally intensify.

Cagayan Valley, the Cordillera Administrative Region, and Aurora will have cloudy skies with rains brought by amihan. PAGASA also warned of potential flash floods or landslides due to moderate to heavy rainfall.

Metro Manila and the rest of Luzon can expect partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains due to the same weather system.

Caraga, Davao de Oro, and Davao Oriental may experience cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms caused by easterlies.

Similarly, partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms are anticipated in the rest of the country. Residents in these areas should remain vigilant for possible flash floods or landslides due to moderate to heavy rains..
