At 5 p.m. yesterday, tropical storm “Lando” shifted direction to the west-southwest and moved closer to Puerto Princesa City, Palawan.

Packing maximum sustained winds of 65 kph near the center and with gustiness of up to 80 kph, “Lando” is forecast to be at 510 kms west of Puerto Princesa or in the vicinity of PAGASA islands this afternoon.

Public Storm Warning Signal No. 2 was hoisted in Palawan, and 1 in Cuyo Island and the Calamian group of islands.

Palawan will have stormy weather with rough to very rough seas, while the Calamian group and Cuyo Island will have rains and gusty winds and moderate to rough seas.

Southern Luzon, the rest of the Visayas and Mindanao will be cloudy with scattered rainshowers and thunderstorms, becoming widespread rains over the Bicol region and Eastern Visayas.

The rest of Luzon will be mostly cloudy with scattered rainshowers.

Coastal waters in Luzon and Eastern Visayas will be moderate to rough. Elsewhere, seas will be slight to moderate.

Temperature forecasts: Metro Manila, 24-30 degrees Celsius; Baguio City, 15-24; Tagaytay City, 22-29; Subic, Clark zone and lahar areas, 23-31; Metro Cebu, 23-30; Metro Davao, 24-31; and Cagayan de Oro, 22-31.

Tidal predictions in Manila Bay: high tide at 6:27 p.m. at 0.54 meter; low tide at 12:53 p.m. at 0.37 meter, and at 1:10 p.m. at 0.15 meter. Sunrise is at 5:59 a.m.; sunset at 5:24 p.m.
