Six former PBA players to lead Cebu Classic in MPBL return

CEBU, Philippines — Six former PBA players and six homegrown talents as well will form part of the Cebu Classic team making a comeback in the 7th Maharlika Pilipinas Basketball League (MPBL) season, which kicked off with a bang last March 8 at The Capital Arena in Ilagan, Isabela.

Ex-pros Rashawn McCarthy, Jan Jamon, Ken Holmqvist, Paolo Hubalde, Gryann Mendoza, and Lean Martel will be at cornerstone of Cebu’s highly anticipated return from a five-year hiatus in the regional cage league founded by boxing legend Manny Pacquiao in 2017.

They will be joining forces with hometown pride Shaquille Imperial, Brylle Meca, Limuel Tampus, Jiesel Tarosa, Jeco Bancale, and Dolan Adlawan.

Completing Cebu’s 22-man roster are Dennis Santos, Kascius Small-Martin, John Jabonete, Ladis Lepalam, Darrell Manliguez, Mark Meneses, Mike de los Santos, Jameson Hiro, Vergian Santos, and John Paul Martinez.

They will be under the guidance of head coach Voltaire Ora assisted by Mike Reyes, Jun da Jose, Marlon Zambrano, Demy Salenga and Jean Putong.

Cebu will open its campaign against the Caloocan Batang Kankaloo on Thursday, March 13, at the Cuneta Astrodome in Pasay City. — (FREEMAN)
