Walang Pasok: Classes, gov't work suspended in NCR, 22 areas on Aug. 6 due to 'Maymay'
MANILA, Philippines (5th update, 11:49 p.m.) — Malacañang on Wednesday night suspended classes at all levels and government work in Metro Manila and 22 provinces on Thursday, August 6, due to the continuing effects of Tropical Storm Maymay (international name: Kujira) and the enhanced southwest monsoon.
Under Memorandum Circular No. 122, government work and classes at all levels are suspended in the following areas:
- Metro Manila
- Ilocos Norte
- Ilocos Sur
- La Union
- Pangasinan
- Abra
- Benguet
- Apayao
- Kalinga
- Mountain Province
- Ifugao
- Zambales
- Tarlac
- Nueva Ecija
- Nueva Vizcaya
- Bataan
- Pampanga
- Bulacan
- Rizal
- Cavite
- Batangas
- Laguna
- Occidental Mindoro
Malacañang said agencies providing basic and health services, disaster preparedness and response, and other essential services will continue to operate.
As of 10 p.m., state weather bureau PAGASA said Maymay accelerated as it moved closer to the Ilocos Sur–Ilocos Norte area. The tropical storm was expected to make landfall later Wednesday night or early Thursday.
Tropical Cyclone Wind Signals Nos. 1 and 2 remain in effect over parts of Northern and Central Luzon.
