LPA brings rains to Visayas, Mindanao

MANILA, Philippines — A low-pressure area (LPA) continues to bring rains over the Visayas and parts of Mindanao, although the chance of it developing into a storm remains low, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).
The LPA is at 230 kilometers east of Hinatuan, Surigao del Sur and is expected to move toward the Visayas before it gradually weakens by the weekend.
Visayas, Caraga and Northern Mindanao will have cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms due to the LPA.
Authorities are advising residents to remain cautious, as the heavy rains may cause flooding or landslides. In other parts of Mindanao, fair weather is expected with partly cloudy to cloudy skies and occasional rain showers due to localized thunderstorms.
Meanwhile, Luzon will experience generally clear skies with partly cloudy to cloudy conditions and isolated rains.
Metro Manila is forecast to reach a high temperature of 34 degrees Celsius.
