MANILA, Philippines — A police officer who has been evading a criminal complaint for alleged rape was arrested yesterday for using the EDSA bus lane.

Personnel of the Department of Transportation’s Special Action and Intelligence Committee for Transportation (DOTr-SAICT) said the motorist attempted to flee.

“He displayed arrogance and identified himself as a police officer to scare the arresting SAICT traffic enforcers,” the DOTr said.

Upon checking with the police Criminal Investigation and Detection Group, it turned out that the motorist has a standing arrest warrant for rape issued by the court on Feb. 22, 2016.

The suspect was taken into custody and brought to Camp Crame in Quezon City.

His driver’s license was confiscated by SAICT personnel.
