Fire leaves 40 people homeless in Marikina

MANILA, Philippines — An early evening fire left at least 40 people homeless in Marikina City on Friday.

The fire razed eight houses along Banaba street in Barangay Nangka, the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) National Capital Region field unit said in a report.

Arson investigators said the fire started at 6:56 p.m. at a three-story house owned by Sixto Pangyarihan.

Firefighters extinguished the flames at 8:20 p.m., the BFP said.

The fire victims are temporarily sheltered at an evacuation center.
