MANILA, Philippines —  Party-list group Pilipinas Babangon Muli should be disqualified to avoid misleading voters into believing that PBBM is linked with President Marcos, a lawyer said.

In a petition filed with the Commission on Elections (Comelec) on March 7, lawyer Jess Christian Ramirez said PBBM should be disqualified from the May midterm polls.

The group also claimed to represent Calabarzon in its registration with the poll body, the petition noted.

Eight of PBBM’s nominees are from Abra, one from Cagayan and one from Quezon City, based on the list of nominees published by the Comelec.

“It cannot be overemphasized that PBBM did not field a single nominee from Calabarzon,” Ramirez said.

The group could be exploiting party-list registration for “political and financial motivations,” he said.
