President Marcos, VP Sara’s satisfaction, trust ratings drop – survey
MANILA, Philippines — The satisfaction and trust ratings of both President Marcos and Vice President Sara Duterte dropped in January, according to the latest survey of market research firm Tangere.
Marcos’ satisfaction rating went down to 46.2 percent from the previous 47.9 percent, while his trust rating dropped to 58.5 percent from the previous 60.1 percent.
“Satisfaction and trust for the President were driven by respondents from Northern Luzon and Central Luzon and respondents aged 18 to 35 years old,” Tangere said.
It added that an increase in the President’s distrust and dissatisfaction were driven by respondents from the Davao and Northern Mindanao regions and for respondents aged 51 years old and above.
On the other hand, Duterte’s satisfaction rating declined to 40.6 percent from the previous 45.5 percent, while her trust rating dropped to 47 percent from the previous 53.4 percent.
“The Vice President continues to leverage on strong support from Mindanao, where trust and satisfaction are the highest. A considerable upward trend in both her dissatisfaction rating was observed – from 36.8 percent to 39 percent; and distrust rating, from 27 percent to 29 percent, were also observed,” Tangere added.
It added that respondents belonging to both lower middle income and low-income classes were the primary drivers of the increase in her dissatisfaction and distrust ratings.
Meanwhile, Tangere said Speaker Martin Romualdez’ satisfaction rating increased to 49 percent from 47.9 percent and trust rating of 59 percent from 58.2 percent.
“The increase in satisfaction and trust are driven by respondents from Northern Luzon, Central Luzon, and Eastern Visayas. Similar to President Marcos, there is a higher level of distrust and dissatisfaction among respondents from Davao Region and Northern Mindanao, and for respondents aged 51 years old and above,” it said.
According to Tangere, the Speaker’s trust and satisfaction ratings have risen due to factors like successful legislation in Congress, the recent quad comm hearings, increased public awareness, and government programs related to ayuda.
The satisfaction and trust ratings of Senate President Francis Escudero both declined, Tangere said.
Despite the decline, they said Escudero continued to be the highest rated top government official.
Tangere said the increase in the awareness rate of Chief Justice Alexander Gesmundo led to an increase in both his satisfaction and trust ratings.
“Distrust and dissatisfaction for the Chief Justice is lowest among the top government officials in the country,” Tangere said.
The survey on the trust and satisfaction ratings of top government officials was conducted from Jan. 13 to 16, with a sample size of 2,000 participants and a margin of error of 2.20 percent.
