Avoid immoral behavior, government workers told

MANILA, Philippines —  An administration lawmaker in the House of Representatives has issued a strong reminder to all government personnel, including those in the uniformed services, to reject immorality at all times and avoid actions that could destroy the lives of families.

“We understand that love affairs happen among humans. But when a family is destroyed due to this and the feelings and disposition of the wife and family suffer, they have the right to resort to acceptable means to redress their grievances,” Rep. Rolando Valeriano said.

The congressman of Manila’s second district was referring to the case of resigned Senior Fire Officer 2 Reyca Janisa Palpallatoc, whose license as a registered nurse is under review for alleged immorality.

Her immorality case stemmed from the complaint filed by Faizah Utuali before the Board of Nursing of the Professional Regulation Commission in December 2024, where she accused Palpallatoc of engaging in an extramarital affair with her husband, a discharged Marine officer.

Palpallatoc’s problems appear to have grown more severe after a Pasay City regional trial court recently issued an arrest order against her on charges of illegal recruitment within the Bureau of Fire Protection.

The recent arrest of Palpallatoc has cast a broader shadow, potentially jeopardizing the careers of her mother, Jane, and her mother’s live-in partner, Cleotilde delos Santos, who are employed in the BFP’s accounting and pension departments, respectively.

The familial connection and accompanying allegations have raised concerns about potential conflicts of interest and the integrity of their roles within the agency.
