Death of Pinoy in Slovenia slammed
MANILA, Philippines — Sen. Sherwin Gatchalian has condemned the reported killing of a Filipina by her Slovenian husband, and is urging the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) to conduct a thorough investigation into the incident.
Marvil Facturan-Kocjan?i?, 27, was allegedly killed by her Slovenian husband, Mitja Kocjan?i?, while on holiday in Bled, Slovenia on Dec. 29, 2024.
Reports from the tabloid Slovenske Novice said Slovenian authorities have launched a probe into the incident.
“I call on the Department of Foreign Affairs and embassies concerned to extend the necessary support to the family of Marvil Facturan-Kocjan?i?,” Gatchalian said.
The senator said the DFA should assert the need for a thorough and impartial investigation, in coordination with the Slovenian government, to ensure that the perpetrator is held accountable and brought to justice.
The suspect, who allegedly had a history of mental health problems, was arrested and taken to a psychiatric hospital.
