3 weather systems continue to bring rain
MANILA, Philippines — Three weather systems will continue to bring rain in different parts of the country, according to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).
At a weather briefing yesterday, PAGASA weather specialist Obet Badrina said the northeast monsoon will bring cloudy skies and rains in Northern Luzon and parts of Central Luzon.
Meanwhile, the shear line or the convergence of hot and cold winds will bring rains in Central Luzon and Southern Luzon while the inter tropical convergence zone (ITCZ) is still affecting Palawan, the Visayas and Mindanao.
“No low-pressure area was monitored inside and outside the Philippine area of responsibility but the three weather systems will bring cloudy skies and rains, especially in Central and Southern Luzon, including areas in Eastern Visayas and portions of Mindanao,” Badrina said.
According to Badrina, moderate to heavy rains are expected in Cagayan, Isabela, Aurora, Quezon and Palawan today.
He said that tomorrow, moderate to heavy rains are expected in Dinagat Islands, Surigao del Norte and Surigao del Sur.
According to Badrina, Metro Manila, CALABARZON, Aurora, Oriental Mindoro, Marinduque, Camarines Norte, Camarines Sur and Catanduanes will have cloudy skies with scattered rains and isolated thunderstorms caused by the shear line.
He added that the Visayas, the rest of MIMAROPA, the rest of Bicol Region, Zamboanga del Norte, Dinagat Islands, Surigao del Norte and Surigao del Sur will be affected by the ITCZ.
Cagayan Valley and Cordillera Administrative Region will also experience cloudy skies with occasional heavy rains brought by the northeast monsoon, Badrina said.
Badrina said the rest of Luzon will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated light rains.
On the other hand, Badrina said that gale warning was hoisted in Batanes, Cagayan including Babuyan Islands, Isabela, the northern part of Aurora, Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, La Union and Western Pangasinan as he warned that the waves may reach between 2.8 and five meters.
