MANILA, Philippines — Two brothers of Sen. Raffy Tulfo are still the most preferred candidates for the Senate in the latest voter preference survey by polling firm Tangere.
The Dec. 10 to 13 survey, administered using a mobile-based respondent application, found that 63.13 percent of respondents would vote for ACT-CIS party-list Rep. Erwin Tulfo if the elections were held during the survey period.
Following him is his brother, media personality Ben Tulfo, at 51 percent.
Erwin achieved high voter preference across all geographic areas, age groups and socioeconomic classes, Tangere noted.
Ben, meanwhile, received strong support among voters in the Visayas.
Tied with Ben in the second to fourth spot were former Senate president Vicente Sotto III and Sen. Bong Go, who received the support of 50.5 percent and 49.5 percent of respondents, respectively.
They were followed by Sen. Pia Cayetano (42.71 percent), former senators Manny Pacquiao (42 percent) and Panfilo Lacson (41.54 percent), former interior secretary Benhur Abalos (34.5 percent) and Sen. Bong Revilla (34.33 percent).
Statistically tied for the last three slots in the so-called Magic 12 were Sen. Lito Lapid (32.17 percent), Makati Mayor Abby Binay (31.95 percent), Sen. Francis Tolentino (31.08 percent), Sen. Ronald dela Rosa (30.92 percent), Sen. Imee Marcos (30.83 percent), former senators Bam Aquino (30.63 percent) and Francis Pangilinan (30.63 percent), television host Willie Revillame (30.42 percent) and doctor and social media personality Willie Ong (30.21 percent).
Trailing them are SAGIP party-list Rep. Rodante Marcoleta, Las Piñas Rep. Camille Villar, former Ilocos Sur governor Chavit Singson, former senator Gregorio Honasan and actor Phillip Salvador.
The polling firm noted significant gains for Cayetano, Revilla and Singson in the latest survey.
The survey was conducted using a “mobile-based respondent application” with a sample size of 2,400 participants selected using a stratified random sampling method. The results had a margin of error of 1.96 percent.
Party-list
Meanwhile, party-list group Partido Trabaho at Wage Hike has withdrawn from the May 2025 midterm elections, according to the Commission on Elections.
The Comelec has granted the group’s petition to withdraw and ordered the Law Department to remove them from the official ballot.
“Only 155 (party-list groups) will be printed in the ballot,” said Comelec Chairman George Garcia. – Mayen Jaymalin
