Bong Go extends support to Tarlac indigents

The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — Sen. Bong Go, in coordination with the Tarlac provincial government, gave additional support to impoverished senior citizens in Tarlac City on Thursday.

During the event, Go highlighted his legislative efforts to enhance support for senior citizens through Republic Act 11982, which seeks to extend a P10,000 cash gift to Filipinos aged 80, 85, 90 and 95.

The cash gift program seeks to complement the P100,000 incentive already available to centenarians.

“These milestones reflect our gratitude and commitment to our elders,” Go said.

Go also cited Republic Act 11916, which he co-authored, to amend the Senior Citizens Act and increase the social pension for indigent senior citizens.

“One of you thanked me awhile ago. I should be the one thanking you for giving me the opportunity to serve you. More important is for us to help those in need, to help our hopeless and helpless countrymen,” Go said.

During the initiative, Go distributed food packs, snacks, masks, vitamins, shirts, fans, basketballs and volleyballs to 1,667 beneficiaries. Others received bicycles, mobile phones, watches and shoes.
