MANILA, Philippines — About four in every 10 Filipinos said their quality of life improved over the past year, a recent survey conducted by Social Weather Stations (SWS) showed.

Results of the Sept. 14 to 23 survey found that 37 percent of the respondents said their quality of life improved in the past 12 months.

It was down two points from the 39 percent obtained in a similar survey conducted in June.

Meanwhile, those who said the quality of their lives worsened increased slightly from 23 to 24 percent.

Thirty-eight percent said it stayed the same, similar to the June poll.

The latest survey resulted in a “net gainers” score of +13, classified as “very high” by SWS. It was down from +15 obtained in the previous survey.

The net gainers score is the rounded off difference of those who said their lives improved from those who said their lives worsened.

Across areas, the latest net gainers score was highest among those in balance Luzon at +22 (from +26), followed by those in Mindanao at +13 (from +7), Metro Manila at +6 (from +16) and the Visayas at -2 (from +1).

By educational attainment, the net gainers score was highest among high school graduates at +20 (from +19), followed by college graduates at +11 (from +21), elementary graduates at +10 (from +14) and non-elementary graduates at -4 (from zero).

The survey had 1,500 adult respondents and a margin of error of plus/minus 2.5 percent for national percentages.
