MANILA, Philippines — Colder days may be felt as early as next week due to the onset of the northeast monsoon or amihan, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) said.

Cold dry air and cooler temperatures brought by the northeasterly wind flow are expected to prevail in the next few weeks.

The southwest monsoon’s official termination was declared by PAGASA on Oct. 7.

State weather forecasters monitored the strengthening of the high-pressure system over East Asia, which is influencing weather patterns in the country.

Isolated rains due to the easterlies are forecast over Metro Manila, the rest of Luzon and Eastern Visayas.

Isabela, Aurora, Quezon and Camarines Norte may see cloudy skies with scattered rains.
