Quad comm orders arrest of Roque wife
MANILA, Philippines — The House of Representatives’ quad committee has cited in contempt and ordered the arrest of the wife of former presidential spokesman Harry Roque for continuously snubbing its hearings on Philippine offshore gaming operations (POGOs).
During yesterday’s hearing, Antipolo Rep. Romeo Acop moved to cite Mylah Roque in contempt and sought her arrest for failing to appear during their proceedings.
Abang Lingkod party-list Rep. Joseph Stephen Paduano also moved for the contempt citation, underscoring that Roque was given due process to shed light on the couple’s alleged involvement in POGO activities.
“Since we have given Mrs. Roque the due process with regards to this, supposedly her presence in the hearing, I move to cite in contempt Mrs. Roque,” Paduano said.
With no objection raised, the quad committee’s overall head and Surigao del Norte Rep. Robert Ace Barbers declared the motion approved.
Barbers underscored that Mylah was invited thrice to attend hearings but she failed to show up.
